Friday, June 19 we will be hosting the official release party at Binny’s Marcey location in Chicago for Project Apollo: Version Space from 4-7PM. Project Apollo is a collaboration project between Solemn Oath, Adler Planetarium, Binny’s, Chicago’s Omega Yeast, Country Malt Group, and Hopsteiner. This group came together to send ingredients into the stratosphere via high altitude balloon and brew a beer with them. We were successful.
Apollo, Comet, Galaxy, and Strata hops define this IPA that gets bolstered by Norwegian farmhouse yeast from Chicago’s own Omega Yeast. A fitting beer to have in hand as the nation celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing on Saturday, July 20.
Project Apollo is a collaboration beer made to highlight the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, the Apollo missions, and the thousands of scientists, seamstresses, and all those who contributed to these massive human achievements. Available for a limited time only, Project Apollo: Version Space will be available at Binny’s Marcey and the brewery beginning Friday, July 19 and will be arriving at Chicagoland Binny’s locations beginning next week.
India Pale Ale
SOB/Adler/Binny’s/Omega Yeast/Country Malt Group/Hopsteiner Collaboration
Brewed in honor of and to commemorate the 50th anniversary of one of the greatest achievements of Mankind, the moon landing of Apollo 11. Our four hops we chose were obvious selections, Apollo, Comet, Galaxy, and Strata. Project Apollo has a beautiful light orange hue and an aroma that feels like it’s erupting from the bottom of a Saturn 5. This beer pulls from the earth and the sky for its flavors and aromas. It’s a blend of grapefruit citrus, passionfruit tropical; astrally fruity and bolstered by our Norwegian farmhouse yeast from Omega that makes it totally out of this world. Apollo has a balanced bitterness with a gently fruity sweet finish. We think it’s a fitting tribute worthy of such a great milestone.
On Friday, July 19 from 4-7PM the official release event will be taking place at Binny’s Marcey location and will include an inflated high-altitude balloon, interactive setups from Adler and Omega Yeast, Adler Planetarium admission pass giveaways, a special wood-aged tapping, limited edition Project Apollo patches, and more.
Join us at 9PM on Friday, July 19 at the brewery where you can have a Project Apollo in hand while checking out space for yourself. Led by Adler astronomers, come check out Scopes in the City, a free telescope observing program where weather permitting we’ll be able to scope out Venus and Jupiter. We’ll have 4PK cans on hand for you to celebrate the July 20 50th Anniversary.
These beers are unfiltered and unpasteurized so please keep these beers cold and drink them fresh. Loads of hops in this beer so keep it cold.
The goal we have at Solemn Oath is simple. And maybe someday you will figure out what that goal really is. We’re going to change the world, probably. Enjoy.
