Forget CNN. We can tell you what’s happening in the world. Some shit’s blowing up. Some is hitting the fan. Here’s your fleeting escape.

Welcome. This is our next chapter.

Since May of 2012, Solemn Oath has been bringing you beer the best way that we know how. And we know that you know that you know that we know that we appreciate your support. It has landed us on the cover of Beer Advocate. It has propelled us to the medal stand with our very first batch of beer. Our successes are yours. Let's have s'more.

When we told you last month that we were going into glass, didn't you think it would take some steel to get there?

Today we received and placed three new 30bbl fermenters from Michigan-based manufacturer GW Kent. With this addition, we will increase production by fifty-four percent (point five if you want to get specific), allowing us to keep the bars and restaurants that already support us in good supply. This will also give us the chance to dig a little deeper into our home turf in the west suburbs. When we get there, packaging will be limited as well. Just one batch each month in twenty-two-ounce bombers, which you can expect to be available this summer. There won't be many bottles to go around at first, but if there were, you'd want them less anyway.

UPDATED - May 22, 2013

As if you needed a reason to celebrate, May 16-26 will be this year's rendition of Chicago Craft Beer Week (CCBW). Dozens of craft-focused events will be going down every day throughout the Chicagoland area so you need to plan your calendar accordingly. If CCBW isn't enough to get you anxious, please keep in mind that we will also be celebrating our first anniversary.

Disclaimer: Please do not make any attempt to determine how much money you have spent in the past year at the Solemn Oath Brewery taproom or on our beer in the wild. This information will do nothing for you. The only type of measurement you should be making is in joy, and we're guessing that's pretty high.

OK. Chicago Craft Beer Week, eleven days of pure madness. Here is our schedule (for now):

April 25, 2013

In preparation for this announcement, I read ideas about bottles. Lots of them. Wine bottles. Bottles of ketchup. Messages in bottles. Turns out people are really, really angry about single-use water bottles. Imagine that!

We've been making beer for one year and four days. And until now your options for getting your hands on our product have been limited. Once our bottle releases hit they will still be limited. If you spot one in the wild be sure to move quickly. Realize that Solemn Oath is still in its infancy, and now we will be consistently out of beer on two fronts.

If you frequent the taproom on the weekend, you’re well aware by now that you just may have to wait your turn in line in order to enter the Solemn walls. That’s because more people want to inhabit our space and take in the good vibes than is legally safe at a given time.

Hypothetically, if there were a flash fire that set our taproom walls ablaze, we often have the maximum number of people inside that would probably be able to make it out safely. Probably.

April 4, 2013

We hope you've noticed that our beer is reaching more and more of your favorite bars and restaurants. We've finally reached a point where we've been able to open up sales to some of the people in Chicagoland that want it.

With our production level reaching capacity comes the possibility of bottling. The first few runs are carved deep in our calendars and should have you stocked up by year's end. Small quantities for sure at first. Also around town, be sure to keep an eye on Penrose Brewing in Geneva as they close in on opening, and if you were lucky enough to get a FoBAB ticket, we'll see your happy ass there.

April 2, 2013

This month, we have some specials and surprises coming your way. I mean, our barrel-aged Oubliette isn't going to drink itself. Expect something à la Radth; Dude, Hold My Purse; or Upper Lip Surprise to come and go in a flash in the taproom. We also have a Bannoffee pie-inspired take on Yarnbomb in the pipeline and a couple of the beers below are particularly well cut out for spice and fruit additions, so watch for the occasional one-off keg or firkin.

March 16, 2013

Each month, we will bring you a preview of the beers we plan to release. Yes, we know we're halfway into March, but we just went live yesterday. Cut us some slack, hombre.
