Earlier this year, we began this discussion. Michael Kiser of Good Beer Hunting and I began talking about how to tell this story. A story of siblings, not only actual but within the industry. Who better to team up with on this than brothers Jim and Jason Ebel of Two Brothers Brewing Co. Brothers making more beer in the state of Illinois than anyone outside of Goose Island and the ones who helped pave the way for the next wave.
And with Kiser driving the narrative, the "Brotherhood of the Barrel" was forged.
A conversation that began in late March, had us brewing in April at Two Brothers, and had that beer shift to Heaven Hill bourbon barrels in May, started because a group of people in beer wanted to share a story with those that really wanted to hear it.
Thursday, my brother Joe and I will sit with Jim and Jason Ebel and Michael Kiser to share stories and ideas. We'll talk about where we've been and where we are each headed.
If this talk is for you, you should be there. Share it with your friends, but be sure to snag a few tickets for yourself first. And for those unable to make it to Bigby's in Addison on Thursday, you'll soon see the bottles from two batches on your local shelves. And we hope that you'll realize there is much more to this story than a simple collaboration, this is about a shared passion and ideas. A story of brothers.
Hope to see you there. View tickets here.
Sometimes at the brewery we listen to rock and sometimes we listen to rap. On occasion you might hear some jazz, pop, or a splash of early punk. The important thing to realize is that we’re always lively. Always accomplishing something. Always planning for what we hope will not be your favorite new thing, or the brewery’s favorite new thing, but our favorite thing together. Never complacent and always adapting. Changing the world, probably. These are those stories.
