Just because it's insanely frigid, it does not mean the beer will stop. This month we'll be waving bon voyage to Kidnapped By Vikings as we have already brewed our final batch of the season, we'll wrap our metaphorical tastebud-arms around some wood-aged disciples, we'll enjoy Death on draft, and swoon over a barleywine. Bottle schedule announcement coming soon.
We have a lot planned in a small window but the main principle of Saturday is to have a good time. What are these beers you ask? Learn more right here. Pre-sale for Most Important Beverage of the Day will close at noon on Friday, January 20th.
Recently I sat down with Jay Cunningham, wholesale sales and coffee buyer for Intelligentsia and SOB’s beer sherpa. We’ve been working with Jay for the last four years on various coffee beer projects, a mere blip in his seventeen years in the coffee game. Jay is someone who, like me, has a kind of insatiable desire to find out what coffee beer can be. With our creations we hope to challenge your palate with something interesting and exceptional; we also hope to educate you about how we see the mashup of coffee and beer evolving and the role we strive to play in that.
The announcement of these two beers means that coffee beer season at SOB is upon us.
In 2017, we’re expanding The Old Order program ever so slightly. We’ve learned a lot from our initial rendition of The Old Order and the overwhelming support of this group has been humbling. Throughout 2016, our production team has focused on brewing, aging, blending, and packaging this set of beers to deliver the highest quality, most interesting beers possible. From creative new event concepts to the experiences built around our quarterly releases, our business and marketing team has strived to give you experiences with and access to SOB like never before. All of this resulted in this making more than double the wood-aged beer than we ever had before, and sharing it in new ways.
“Eric is a proven leader who understands the industry, and most importantly, this market,” says John Barley, President of Solemn Oath Brewery. “Our operations team is making world-class beer, we recently made a massive infrastructure investment, and now we’re building the team that’s going to help our company take the next step forward. We’ve been ready for it, but now we have the guy to help get us there.”
